What is Basmo?
Basmo is the social platform for booklovers, full of amazing book summaries and motivation quotes. Our mission is to help you find, share, and remember more from the books you read.
Why should I use Basmo?
If you want to remember what you read, Basmo is the right tool. It helps you save the most important paragraphs from your favorite books, add your thoughts, and share them with your friends, with just a few taps.
Another way you can use Basmo is for your self-improvement. Our app brings value, knowledge, and daily motivation by enabling you to read 5 minutes each day. Enjoy the summaries from the world’s best-selling books that changed the lives of millions.
How much does Basmo cost? Is the Basmo app free?

Where can I find you? What platforms do you support at the moment?
Basmo is available on Apple App Store, Google Play, Amazon, Galaxy Store, and HUAWEI AppGallery.
We are also working on a brand new web experience, in order to cover as many devices as possible.
Is Basmo focused only on nonfiction? What about fiction?
Basmo started with summaries of nonfiction books, but by user requests, we added fiction books too.
What categories do you have?
At the moment we have 12 categories: Personal growth, Biography, Self-improvement, Psychology, Spiritual, Entrepreneurship, Science & Future Studies, Business, Bible Studies, Marketing, Fiction, and House & Home.
What languages do you support?
We would like to expand to other languages in the future, but for now, we are focusing mainly on English.
How do you choose which books to add?
We add new summaries after we scan the book market for trends and best sellers and also by user requests.
Recently we also started to add summaries made by our community, after they become verified authors.
Who writes the summaries?
Until recently, Basmo added summaries made by our handpicked Editors, but now we are proud to say that book lovers from our community are also contributing to our platform.
What about copyright?
Basmo offers access to new insights, ideas, and summaries derived from books. These creations are totally new and original work, authored by our editors and users.
We don’t allow users to induce or encourage copyright infringement.
How can I suggest a book?
You are more than welcome to suggest a book. Send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us on our social media pages.

Since we are all humans here, some errors and a few typos will occasionally slip through.

Can I use Basmo offline?
You can only read what’s in “My Books” and “Discover” if you’re offline.
Can I download text from the app?
Unfortunately, at the moment there isn’t a way to save all your texts, highlights, and quotes in Basmo. This will be available in future updates.
How can I turn on/off the push notifications?
Visit your Notification Center in your device’s settings.
How do I unsubscribe from the newsletter?
If you do not want to receive further newsletters, you can click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any such email. You can also drop us a line at email@example.com requesting to be unsubscribed.
How do I delete my account?
If you want to delete your account, you need to open the app, go to your profile settings, scroll all the way down, and choose “Delete Account”.
Please keep in mind that once you delete your account all your data and content will also be permanently removed.
How do I add a highlight/quote/favorite paragraph?
To add a highlight you need to press the “Scan Page” button, take a photo of the desired text, press save, and choose the book title.
(Or you could see the video below:) – idea for the future – da let’s make a video Please keep in mind that the Camera from “Scan Page” has the same quality as your Mobile Camera. Also, please make sure that while taking the photo you have enough light.
If you want to add highlights from the same book, you can also go to the “My Books” section, choose the book you are currently reading, and press the “Write Highlights” button.
Besides scanning the page, don’t forget you can also save highlights via voice recording, or by writing them down.
Where can I see my highlights?
To see your highlights you need to go to the “My Books” section, visit “Saved” and click on the book which holds your highlights.
How do I delete a highlight?
To delete a highlight you need to navigate to it, click the 3 dots from top right corner, and choose “Delete” from the pop-up menu.
How do I delete a book?
To delete a book you need to navigate to it, click the 3 dots from top right corner, and choose “Delete” from the pop-up menu. Alternatively, you can long-press the book and press “Delete”.
How can I edit a highlight?
To edit a highlight you need to navigate to it, click the 3 dots from top right corner, and choose “Edit” from the pop-up menu.
How can I add background to a quote?
To add background to a quote you need to navigate to the highlight you want to customize, click the brush icon from the bottom left corner. You can choose one of our templates or you can customize it to your own liking, by clicking “Create”.
You can choose the color, picture, font, size, and so on.
How to search for a book title?
If you wish to look up a book title, all you have to do is press the magnifying glass icon from the top right corner.
How to rearrange books from the “My Books” section?
All you have to do to arrange your books is to press-hold the book cover and drag it to its new position.
How do I save a highlight/quote from “Discover”?
To save a highlight or a quote you like, you need to press the heart icon or the bottom “Save” button.
How can I view my saved quotes and/or highlights?
To see the quotes or highlights you saved, you need to go to the “My Books” section, visit “Saved” and click on the book cover that contains the highlight.
How can I view the quotes and/or highlights that others shared with me?
To see the quotes or highlights that others shared with you, you need to go to the “My Books” section, visit “Shared with me” and click on the book cover that contains the highlights.
How do I log out of my account?
If you want to log out of your account, you need to open the app, go to your profile settings, scroll all the way down, and choose “Log Out”.
How do I make my highlights/books public on my profile?
If you want to make your highlights or books public on your public profile, you need to make sure that their Privacy is set as Public.
To change the privacy for a highlight you need to navigate to the one you want to make public, click the 3 dots from top right corner, and choose “Set Privacy” from the pop-up menu.
For books, you need to select the book you want to make public, press and hold the “Change Privacy” button.
Can I sync my Kindle account with Basmo?
Yes, you can sync your Kindle account with Basmo. Keep in mind that, for your account security, the content on your Kindle will only be updated in Basmo every time you sync it. It is not done automatically.

How do I get featured in ‘Discover’?
To get featured in “Discover” you need to become a verified author.
Once you get your verified badge, you will be featured alongside other verified authors in the ‘Discover’ section and receive many more views, saves and followers for everything you publish. Anything that you don’t publish will remain private.
